Founded by music ministers and musicians, Hannah and Joshua Welton, The Purple Movement aims to attribute awareness to the equality of life and civil rights. Together, Hannah and Joshua are collectively combating injustice with the unifying power of music, faith, and community.
Hannah and Joshua Welton are friendly faces to the music industry. Most prominently known for her noteworthy talent presented as a member of 3rdeyegirl, Hannah was both a vocalist and drummer under the mentorship of 3rdeyegirl lead singer, Prince. Meanwhile, Joshua, Hannah’s husband, and right-hand man contributed to the overall production of Prince’s most recent albums such as 3rdeyegirl’s debut album, Plectrumelectrum, and Prince’s Art Official Age, both released in 2014.
While Hannah Welton is a musician originating from Kentucky, however gratefully, she and Joshua remain here contributing to the community locally here in the Twin Cities through music ministry and racial justice advocacy, since collectively founding Your Will Be Done Ministries together as co-pastors, amongst the Purple Movement.
In their own words:
"The Purple Movement petitions & creates policy to harmonize humanity.
We are the equalizer. We find ways to build bridges where there once were walls between the government and we the people. That is why our logo features a Purple bridge. Reconciliation is the driving force at the core of The Purple Movement.
Our goal is to set legislative precedence for the future. We do not just respond to tragedies effectively, but we effectively create policy to prevent them. Join us on this legislative movement of justice, love, accountability, reconciliation, peace, and empowerment."
One will listen and still remain deaf to those necessary to be heard. The Purple Movement presents social activism in a new light, when referencing the advancing numbers of social activist groups today, such effective methods of operations that continue to flourish, and largely what, together, can be collectively accomplished long term, when such awareness in a union is communicated interiorly within the hearts and minds across the world. The Purple Movement works to do just this and more on behalf of minorities, with a little added twist of faith through the powerful, promotional collaboration using the implementation of the gospel, music, and education regarding equal rights, most soundly altogether in unison.
