- Discover New ArtistsAnita Rojo donned the Green Matter alias in 2019, after several years of cultivating a love of bass music. This fiery passion was first sparked in 2012, when her sister took her to a Skrillex performance. Ever since, Roja immersed herself into the bass music scene as a fan, but she eventually grew a desire to contribute more to the community. She then dove headfirst into DAWs and dubstep production, finding her creative calling with the Green Matter project. The Latina artist shines unforgettably bright among the Denver, CO bass music scene. Green Matter stands as a bright neon bastion about the rest, attracting bass music fans of all genres. Her sound cross-pollinates the nostalgia of earlier dubstep and the constant innovation of modern bass production. Such talent impressed Circus Records, prompting them to release her remix of Conrank’s “Simulation Breach.” Indeed, at just 21 years old, Green Matter found her place within the densely saturated Denver scene and developed a sound to flatten the Rockies. Although she mingles with a fanbase of “Earthlings,” her live performances are interstellar. With the return of shows, she shattered speakers and expectations with her performance at Mission Ballroom alongside Bear Grillz. Not only that, but Green Matter eviscerated the Wakaan takeover in Denver, blasting bass with heavyweights including MIZE, Redrum, and fellow Electric Hawk artist Common Creation. After winning the 2022 Excision Bass Music Initiative, Green Matter plans to abduct more Earthlings and rattle the Gorge with her Bass Canyon set. - The MainStreamUpon accepting the award for Best Internet Only Single for his track, “War”, in 1999, Prince uniformed his acceptance speech around cyber security awareness, enlightening those with the following statement: "Don't be fooled by the Internet. Use the computer - don't let the computer use you. Y'all all saw The Matrix. There’s a war going on, the battlefield is in the mind and the prize is the soul so be careful. Be very careful.” Prince has never refrained from prioritizing his beliefs & communicating these beliefs through the use of his music, interviews, and in numerous cases including this one, in the form of award acceptance speeches. While always holding strong to his beliefs, his concern for the future of technology is something Prince never gave up vocalizing throughout his career. In 2010, Prince told UK’s Daily Mirror: “The internet’s completely over. The internet is like MTV. At one time, MTV was hip, and suddenly, it became outdated. Anyway, all these digital gadgets are no good… They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.” Throughout songs like “New World,” and “Computer Blue”, or especially so in his most recent albums such as Art Official Age, HiTnRuN Phases One & Two, as well as Welcome 2 America, the concern for citizens’ privacy and internet security is primarily the main focal points throughout these albums, portraying what the ultimate form of slavery looks like today and decades down the road.Me gusta
- The MainStreamToday most all music industry professionals use social media as a tool to promote their creative careers. While the list of professionals to swear off social media has been growing, Whether that gain may be financially or promotionally speaking, musicians have had no choice but to rely on social media platforms to promote tours, merch, and albums; the list goes on. However, during this transition into this art official age, somewhere over the last twenty years, artists have lost touch with organic, engaging promotional content despite having obtained a plethora of digital marketing tactics to take center stage. While social media imparts users and consumers with immediate access to digital content, the cline in genuine artist-to-fan engagement rate has decreased. Over the last decades, promotional content has become less tangible. Both as humans, and fans of music, we rely on bonafide, tangible engagement & content. However, what social media has done is supply artists with a one-stop shop means of supporting their music, resulting in the diminishing of the overall experience of music altogether. By and large, social media has become a double-edged sword providing artists with a one-tool, do-it-yourself billboard, leaving the old-school music marketing methods behind in history. Imagine a world with no concert posters, no flyers to browse at your local coffee shop, no art you can feel beneath the CD you just bought. No more companies and artists such as Prince, who were famously known to host numerous online websites including fan forums, Q&As, you name it. Here at Turntable Talks, we take great humility in yielding alternative methods to social media, providing an engaging platform tailored for our members' expertise. We implement the use of social media with open eyes and a grain of salt. Alternative promotional methods to social media are believed to be essential, and the Club and the Scene prepare you with just this and more. With the sincerest of intentions, we will continue to make ways to inform creative individuals to value their art and present inviting admiration for their fans.Me gusta
